Peace Be Still

One day our Lord lay asleep in a boat
When there arose a great storm.
His friends were scared when they saw mighty waves
And came to Him in alarm. . .

[Chorus]
Peace, be still. Peace, be still.
And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.
Peace, be still. Peace, be still.
And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.

‘Do you not care if we perish and die?’
His friends cried out in dismay.
Our Lord arose and He spoke to the storm
The winds and waves died away. . .

The Lord then turned to His friends and He said:
Why are you so filled with fear?
How is it that you have so little faith
When I am always so near? . . .

‘…Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.
… What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?’
[From Mark 4: 35-41]
