I saw a crowd surrounding the wreckage of a plane
Appalled by all the carnage, their thoughts on what to blame.
But like the tower Siloam, which fell in Jesus’ day
It teaches of God’s mercy, in such a simple way.

The desert sun is burning, the harvest is in doubt
A million starving children face yet another drought.
But like the tower Siloam, which fell in Jesus’ day
It teaches of God’s mercy, in such a simple way.

The news is of an earthquake; the town that stood so grand
Collapsed to dust in seconds, when God withdrew His hand.
But like the tower Siloam, which fell in Jesus’ day
It teaches of God’s mercy, in such a simple way.

One day the Lord our Saviour was talking to the crowd
About the tower Siloam; of harsh things God allowed.
And He was plainly teaching: unless we turn from sin
We all shall likewise perish; for mercy is through Him.

Jesus said:
‘Or those eighteen upon whom the tower in Siloam fell and killed them, do you think that they were worse sinners than all other men who dwelt in Jerusalem? I tell you, no; but unless you repent, you shall all likewise perish.’
[Luke 13: 4-5]
