Beside the Gravestone

Beside the Gravestone
© 2011 Tom D Blakely

As I kneel beside the gravestone
And I read its painted letters
All the sadness rushes through my mind once more.
Then I look to God for comfort
For His blessing to a mourner
That my tears might dry and grief might be less sore.

Oh my Lord You know I loved her
How my lonely heart is aching
Help me know that all things work out for the good.
And although I’ve lost my dearest
We shall meet again in heaven
Where I know that all things will be understood.

For the Lord shall come from heaven
With a shout He shall appear
And the dead in Christ shall rise for all to see.
Then all those in Christ remaining
Shall catch up in clouds of glory
And with Christ the Lord forever we will be.
