Rest In Peace

Rest In Peace
© 2011 Tom D Blakely

Some may not know who you were
How much you meant to those left behind.
Others still know and always will
You’re in their hearts forever.
Yet through it all even when tired
You always had time for a friend in need.
May none forget your love and care
All that you did forever. . . .

And now may you rest in your Lord’s loving arms
In the place He prepared in His kingdom.
And there He’ll reward you for sharing His name
For proclaiming Him Lord and Saviour.
Though we’ll never forget all that you were;
Safe with the Lord we leave you.

Here in God’s house gathered today
To say goodbye for a little time.
God’s light shines bright piercing the gloom
Letting us know you’re with Him.
May your name sound deep in our hearts
And though it brings tears of emotion;
You loved the Lord may we do too
Offering Him such devotion. . . .

The death of a loved one can be heart wrenching, but as believers…

‘We walk by faith, not by sight. We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord.’
[2 Corinthians 5:7-8]
