The Pilgrim’s Path

The Pilgrim’s Path

There is a way that we must take
For heavenly issues are at stake
So may we walk the pilgrim’s path
Beginning at the wicket gate.

The lion meets us in the way
For Satan has to have his day
But round us are the arms of God
We shall not be the lion’s prey.

At times we seek a softer way
And from our rugged path we stray
But by-paths lead us to despair
So on the straight we’d better stay.

God’s Spirit calls us to awake
And worldly values to forsake
To walk the straight and narrow path
Beginning at the wicket gate.

(Inspired by John Bunyan’s book, ‘The Pilgrim’s Progress’)
