Powerful Worship

Powerful Worship

Bow down deluded children, bow,
your knees upon the ground.
Why clap and dance in smiling praise,
when heav’n hears not a sound?
Your prayers and praise make quite a din,
as amplified they sound;
But earnest worship from the soul,
by noise is almost drowned!

Not by man’s might, nor by his power,
is blessing engineered;
For if our power supply was cut,
we’d hear the same as God!
Your strength O Lord is made perfect;
Your mighty arm revealed;
Not by our power and worship aids,
but when we know we’ve failed.

Let’s humbly bow with open hearts,
of love and reverent fear;
So we may know God will receive,
His children who draw near.
Lord let us come before the cross,
confessing every sin.
Have mercy Lord, let blessing flow,
revival to begin.

‘The Lord says:
These people come near to me with their mouth and honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. Their worship of me is made up only of rules taught by men.’
[Isaiah 29:13]
