Sense Of Self

Sense Of Self

Nothing from the outside
Changes who we are within,
Not when Christ is in us
And we live our lives in Him.
We are thus protected
Being fortified by love,
Sense of self is in Him
When naught else is placed above.

Christ, our peace and center
Is our constant shield of truth,
Cruel words He softens
And unfeeling attitudes.
When we let hurt pierce us
In our heart we feel the pain,
Then Christ takes it from us
And true sense of self remains.

Feeling sometimes pressured
To be ready to forgive,
Strength is found in Jesus
Christ in us is all we need.
 Jesus Christ our Savior
Has all mercy and forgives,
In our need He helps us
For it is in Him we live…
For it is in Him we live.

‘Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me,
for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find
rest for your souls.’
[Matthew 11:29]
