A Brokenhearted Christian

I thought I loved the Saviour
In all things put Him first?
But now I know this wasn’t true
For often He came last.
Life crowded out His presence
I did things my own way
I read His word so hurriedly
With little time to pray.

A brokenhearted Christian
Is what I had to be
Before I realised the love
That Jesus had for me.

~

I used to think I knew Him
Through trials and through pain
When Jesus gave me victory
And all was well again.
But soon His presence left me
When I’d no need of Him
My Christian life was more of works
That I did on my own.

A brokenhearted Christian
Is what I had to be
Before I realised the love
That Jesus had for me.

We Christians should be ready
For everything we meet. . . . .
But when they said my Mum would die
I felt that I was beat!
And then I turned to Jesus
He was already there
I felt His peace deep in my heart
His love and tender care.

A brokenhearted Christian
Is what I had to be
Before I realised the love
That Jesus had for me…

A brokenhearted Christian
Is what I want to be
To fully realise the love
That Jesus has for me!

“He heals the brokenhearted
And binds up their wounds.”
[Psalm 147:3]
